Taxi service has been treated as one of the most important symbols of big cities, and it is also a convenience substitute for public transportation. We can see yellow and green cabs at almost everywhere in New York City. In order to provide good taxi service and play for effective competitions vs Uber, Lyft and other ride-hailing services, taxi drivers and managers need to understand the dynamics of taxis in NYC.
The main issue that we are trying to address is how to utilize the current published data to quantitatively analyze all TLC Yellow Taxi trips in certain time interval. Based on our analysis, we hope we can solve the following questions:
- Where are the highest taxi demanding areas of Manhattan at different time period?
- What type of trips are made with those cabs?
- Where and when did the passengers would most likely to pay more tips?
